The ceremony is also a time for the groom and his family to present gifts to the bride’s family. Traditionally, the gifts are in even numbers and stored in red tin baskets known as Mam Qua, further covered with red pieces of cloth.

The groom and his community will be allowed to see their dearest after the parents and grandparents have been welcomed with items. The wife and her relatives will then be met for the Tea and Candle Ceremony, and the groom’s mom may accompany him there.
